Title: BN38 - Mortality Assumptions

Date: 06/10/2008

In February 2008 the Pensions Regulator issued a consultation document on good practice when choosing funding assumptions for defined benefit pension schemes, focusing particularly on the mortality assumptions. The contents of that consultation paper were summarized in BBS briefing note 35 - “Scheme Funding – Mortality Assumptions”.

The Regulator has now published its report on the responses received to the consultation document.

This BBS briefing note summarizes the content of the report and details the new regulatory approach that will come into effect for valuations with an effective date from 22 September 2008.
