The Government has announced its intention to set up a scheme to provide ex-gratia payments for those most heavily affected by the events at Equitable Life.
Whilst the Governmnent has apologised on behalf of public bodies and Governments since 1990 for the maladministration it believes took place, it does not accept all of the Ombudsman's report's findings.
Victims of the Equitable Life collapse do not feel that the compensation means testing proposal goes far enough.
Paul Braithwaite of the Equitable Life Members Action Group (EMAG) commented that "In our view 100% failure should demand 100% compensation."
