The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has announced a set of proposals in an effort to address the challenges of an ageing workforce. The proposals include:
* the abolition of the default retirement age
* the extension of the right to request flexible working to all
* an overhaul of employer recruitment practices to prevent discrimination.
The announcement comes on the day the House of Lords has the opportunity to remove the default retirement age through the Equality Bill.
